The DolceVela 48 Vintage is a 48-foot cruiser conceived around a simple idea: making sailing easier, more intuitive and more accessible.
Developed around a simplified sail plan and retractable outboard propulsion, the project rethinks the relationship between sailing performance, onboard comfort and ease of handling.
OYA Studio developed the project with Vismara from the initial concept through the complete executive design.
PROJECT
The design focuses on simplifying the sailing experience through the integration of the sail plan, propulsion system and onboard layout.
Two headsails replace the conventional mainsail and boom, allowing sail handling directly from the cockpit. Retractable outboard engines reduce underwater resistance when sailing and provide manoeuvrability under power.
The interior and exterior spaces are conceived to work in continuity, creating a bright and functional environment for cruising.
DESIGN APPROACH
The interior layout is conceived as a natural extension of the exterior living space. The dinette and the cockpit are arranged on the same level, creating a continuous open-plan environment that enhances the feeling of space and encourages life on board to flow seamlessly between indoors and outdoors.
The dinette offers unobstructed 360-degree visibility, allowing a direct visual connection with the surrounding environment also at sailing.
The owner's cabin is located forward and features a centrally positioned double bed with walkaround access, ensuring comfort and ease of movement. At the extreme bow, the owner's bathroom is arranged with a dedicated shower compartment.
GENERAL ARRANGEMENT
The VINTAGE 48 was built in wood, reinforced with glass fibres and modern composite technology to achieve a lightweight and efficient structure.
This approach brings together the craftsmanship of wood, the structural potential of fibre reinforcement and the design freedom offered by digital modelling and precision manufacturing. The result is a yacht that stands out for its distinctive construction philosophy, combining material research, lightweight design and a strong connection with more natural materials.
